"X-Files" Filming to Begin

newswire transcript by Tim Costrell

A spokesperson for Ten-Thirteen productions has told the Minute that principal filmling for a second "X-Files" film will begin in the fall. The production company, supported by New Line Cinema, has completed a script and secured the major cast members David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Mitch Pileggi, Robert Patrick, and Annabeth Gish.

"I've had my support behind the film for some time now," said Duchovny, who spoke with the Minute by phone. "I understand Gillian has had obligations in (London) which have slowed things."

Anderson has been filming "Bleak House" for the BBC, and has been working to bring a film to the screen about the life of Martha Gellhorn, wife of Ernest Hemmingway.

"I'm really excited to finally begin shooting on the project. Its been a real adventure getting this script together. I think diehard fans and casual moviegoers will be wowed," said Chris Carter, who is directing the film. "Some of the fans were left with a sour taste with so many unresolved issues from the series. (The writer) has really brought may of the threads together in an explosive way."

Carter refused to reveal details about the plot, except to say that the movie would continue where top rated Fox television show left off.

Filming begins mid October.
